LiAngelo Ball Teases 'Tweaker' Music Video, Reveals Release Date amid Viral Success
January 30, 2025
LiAngelo Ball announced on social media Wednesday that the music video for his song, "Tweaker," would be released at noon ET on Thursday.
The surprising success of the "Tweaker"—which was originally released on the WorldstarHipHop YouTube channel and has been viewed over 13 million times—led to a record deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group that is reportedly worth up to $13 million ($8 million guaranteed), according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Ball, 26, is the younger brother of Chicago Bulls' guard Lonzo Ball and the older brother of Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball.
Unlike his brothers, LiAngelo Ball went undrafted in the 2018 draft after a brief stint at UCLA and time overseas in Lithuania. He never caught on in the NBA despite signing training camp deals with the Detroit Pistons in 2020 and the Hornets in both 2021 and 2022.
He appeared in 31 G League games for the Greensboro Swarm between 2021-23, averaging 4.4 points and 1.1 rebounds.
He's had more success in the music game than his brothers, however, with Lonzo's "Zo2" track, among others, never gaining the popularity of "Tweaker." The track is currently No. 41 on Spotify's Top 50 playlist and No. 38 on Billboard's Hot 100.
